pH Measurement for Laboratories
pH expresses how acidic or alkaline a solution is, on a scale of 0 to 14. Hintron pH meters pair a combination electrode with temperature compensation for consistent readings at the bench.

How it is measured
Calibrate
Standardise against buffers, typically 4.00, 7.00 and 9.20 pH.
Measure
The electrode develops a millivolt signal proportional to hydrogen-ion activity.
Compensate
The reading is corrected for sample temperature, so results remain comparable.
Where it is measured
Frequently asked
How often should a pH meter be calibrated?
Before each working session for routine testing, and at least daily in regulated laboratories. Recalibrate after the electrode has dried out or after measuring extreme samples.
What is the difference between manual and automatic temperature compensation?
With manual compensation the sample temperature is set on the meter. Automatic compensation reads it from a temperature probe and corrects continuously, which suits samples that are not at room temperature.
Which electrode is supplied?
The multi-parameter meter ships with a combination pH electrode, temperature probe, electrode stand and buffer tablets. Spare electrodes can be added to any quotation.
Not sure which pH meter fits?
Describe the sample and the quantity. A specialist replies with a recommendation and a quotation.
